Apple TV+ discount

Apple TV+ is offering a limited time discount through April for $2.99/month for three months, $7 off the regular price. The offer applies to new and returning subscribers. With popular series “Severance” just ending, the promo coincides with the premiere of the new Jon Hamm series “Your Friends & Neighbors.” The series is expected to be successful as it has already renewed for a Season 2. This is Apple’ second promo this year following their fee promo offered in January.

The Circana Take:

  • Withs strong core, but limited programming Apple continues to offer steep promotions to retain the service’s subscriber base. This strategy doesn’t make sense long-term.

AMC Networks programming expansion

AMC is gearing up for a wide programming expansion in this year’s upfront market. The offering includes a Great American Stories anthology franchise, new seasons of “The Walking Dead: Dead City” and “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” as well as “Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire.” Plus, a new unscripted series for Shudder and AMC+ called “Guts & Glory” from a special effects artist of the Walking Dead. Acorn TV will expand with a new crime drama called Allie & Andi featuring Brooke Shields and a horror reality show. AMC is also planning to debut a free ad-supported version called Acorn TV Mysteries and an ad-supported tier of Shudder.

The Circana Take:

  • AMC’s ad-tier offerings and are aimed at expanding the company’s advertising revenues making a successful up-front showing critical. The challenge may be less the company’s content draw and more the economic stain on brands ability to increase ad spend with looming tariff concerns.
